Location
This photo was taken on a walking path only 5 minutes from my home. I had come across this 'scene' the previous year while out walking (without my camera) and I was determined not to let the opportunity slip by a second time! I waited an entire year for the perfect day, and the perfect light to return... This time with camera in hand! This has turned out to be one of my all time favourite photos.Time
I believe this was taken later morning on a beautiful Fall day when the sun was directly behind me and lighting up the entrance into the woods. I remember thinking how gorgeous the colours were in that light.Lighting
Fall is my favourite time of year for capturing photos. The light and colours are so vibrant, warm and inviting!Equipment
This was a hand held shot with my Nikon D7000 and the 18-105 kit lens.Inspiration
I had actually come across this scene the year previous and I was immediately struck by the beauty and serenity of this location. I was determined to return to try and capture the view that took my breath away!Editing
I did some post processing to punch up the contrast a bit and bring out the colours. In my camera bag
I usually carry my Nikon D7000 with the 18-105 kit lens. Depending on what I'm shooting, I also keep a Nikon 50mm prime lens and an SB-700 speed light in my bag.Feedback
I am always, always looking at my surroundings to try and see them from different perspectives. If I find a location or scene that I am particularly drawn to, I try to return during different times of day or different times of year. I love to see how the light plays on a scene and changes the way it looks. Also, being a self taught photographer, I can attest to the mantra of practise, practise, practise!
