This image is gorgeous, so is the model. I love the symbolic nervousness coupled with excitement on her face. It makes you wish that she lived happily ever after.

Location
The Akron Civic theater in downtown Akron, OhioTime
It was mid-afternoon, we were walking thru the theater and I saw this gorgeous light hitting this wonderfully textured wall. I knew that I had to get an image there.Lighting
I placed the bride directly in front of an entrance to the theater, which had glass doors. I then positioned myself at a 90 degree angle from the bride so that I would have rim lighting along the front of her. I then gave her an action (adjust the shoe) and we were offEquipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark II with a 135mm 2.0L lens. My exposure was set at ISO 400; shutter speed 100 with my aperture at 3.2Inspiration
The theater was inspiration enough but my brides always inspire me one way or another. Add to that beautiful light and that is all that I need. Of all of the incredible spots in this beautiful theater, this very simple location was the absolute best.Editing
I cleaned up the background a bit, removed some blemishes from the bride and removed a tattoo from her foot (it was distracting). Converted it to a sepia tone and and just a bit of Gaussian blur. Then I flipped the image to make it more appealing to the eyeIn my camera bag
My equipment is currently a Canon 1DX, with a 5D Mark III as my back up. Lenses: 70-200mm 2.8L; 135mm 2.0L; 100mm 2.8L Macro; 85mm 1.2L; 35 1.4L; 16-35mm 2.8LFeedback
Always, always ALWAYS look for the beautiful light. That is what it is ALL about. Don't be overwhelmed by an elaborate background if there is no quality light. Of course, we can always use alternative light sources, but make sure it's quality, and make sure that it's directional. Also, shoot what you love. If you shoot what you love, those that love what you shoot will hire you and you will always be one of a kind.
