This image captures a small patch of tules in Eagle Lake in Lassen County, California, USA. I loved the way the reeds reflected in the calm blue hour water on this very chilly morning (if you look closely you can see icicles on some of the lower horizontal reeds. The low fog on the water in the background just enhanced the beautiful scene.

This image was captured while on a brisk morning walk along the south shore of Eagle Lake in Lassen County, California, USA. I loved the wonderful tones and simplicity of the scene and the calm water, not yet disturbed by the myriad anglers who I could already hear launching their boats just a few hundred yards to camera left.Time
I captured the image at just after 8am on December 3, 2020. At this point in late autumn, the blue hour is just giving way to the golden hour at my latitude.Lighting
Nature handled the lighting exquisitely in this image and needed no help from me.Equipment
This image was captured with my Canon 6D Mark II fitted with my 24-105 f4 L lens. I used a 6 stop neutral density filter to slow the shutter down to 30 seconds to ensure the water would be dead flat, and mounted the whole setup atop my trusty aluminum Manfrotto tripod and ball head from the 1990's.Inspiration
I've been trying to embrace minimalistic photography as part of my continued growth and I love fog. Therefore, the decision to capture this scene was almost an involuntary reaction.Editing
This image is minimally processed. I "tickled" some Lightroom sliders and cropped the images somewhat but that is pretty much it for this one.In my camera bag
My 6D Mark II, 24-105 lens, 70-300IS lens, "nifty fifty" 50mm f1.8, 430EX flash, assorted filters, intervalometer, and my newest addition, my Rokinon 20mm f1.8 which I hope to use for milky way landscapes very soon.Feedback
Really all I can say is be there, be there frequently, and be there EARLY so you can be ready when the scene unfolds!
