This photo was taken in a pop up studio we created for the shoot. We descended on the dance studio loaded with props, costumes and backdrops and setup creating our 'night circus'Time
This was an all day shoot.. we started setting up at 9am while our models were in makeup and started shooting around 11amLighting
For lighting we used the Neewer LED barn door lights - these are great when multiple photographers are shooting as no flashes go off..just a constant, consistant light.Equipment
I shot the entire shoot on my Olympus OMD EM1 Mii and used the Olympus 12-40 F2.8 Pro lens. We shot hand hand and used the neewar lights for extra lighting or moodInspiration
I love doing the themed concept type shoots.. this time I had an idea in my head for a Night Circus at Halloween.. and naturally - every circus needs a clownEditing
Post processing was done in Photoshop.. I brought the highlights way down.. increased the reds and added a very slight softening blur over the entire image but brushed it back off the faceIn my camera bag
Being that my kit is Olympus 4/3 I can carry my entire kit (Camera body plus Olympus 12-40 F2.8, Olympus 40-150 F2.8, Olympus 60mm Macro and Panasonic 25mm F1.7) in one backpack and its around 7kg, so I leave nothing at home. I also use a Fotpro carbon tripod again to keep the weight down.Feedback
Plan your shoot early - I buy all the costumes from china via Aliexpress and they can take a few weeks to arrive. Likewise the backdrops - there is a great range out there so pick your backdrop - get something thats at least 300cm x 220cm and shoot close enough to only have the backdrop in the shot or crop the outside area out
