Behind The Lens
Location
A fun fair always comes to town and so I waited until just before blue hour and shot as the sun vanished and the lights came alive. This shot was taken about 30mins after the sun had gone.Time
Early evening as soon as blue hour was over.Lighting
The light was all available 'insitu' lighting from the flashing bulbs and stuff around me.Equipment
Nikon D750 and I believe my 35mm.Inspiration
I am a massive lover of neon lights and generally the whole circus/fun fair vibe so I wanted to capture it.Editing
Lifted a few of the shadows and ensured I got the white balance right as it was very orange. In my camera bag
All primes, a few Lensbaby lens (Sol45 and Twist 60) and sometimes a prism. Just to add a little drama to some images or cleverly hide something unsightly I place the prism to the lens and get that lovely 'flare'.Feedback
Primes are pretty much essential of this as you need to open up that lens as wide as possible. Also be mindful that this is a place of business so seek permission and actually part with some cash. These venues exist because someone spent money on them so dont be that muppet who just takes advantage. Work fast as the crowds can be busy.
