Behind The Lens

Location

I was touring the back roads if Stayner and drove down a dead end road to find this beautiful girl hunting in a winter wheat field at the very end.

Time

If I remember correctly it was around 9:30 am.

Lighting

Natural sunlight was from the east with nice reflected light from the snow.

Equipment

Canon 70D, Sigma 150-600 mm

Inspiration

I have a huge passion for these beautiful birds and look forward to seeing them every winter. Sometimes I don't even shoot them I just sit and enjoy the view.

Editing

A little sharpening, bring the colour of the eyes out and a little noise reduction.

In my camera bag

Batteries, speed light and remote, lens cloth, lenses, cimpass, flashlight, lense extender.

Feedback

Know how the subject acts and hunts. Look deep into the fields and hydro poll tops. Pack your patience and lots of it, visit them byt never get too close as to disrupt them and scare them into flight as they need the energy to hunt prey not to flee from photographers.
