It was one of those weekend visits catching up with family and we decided it would be a good idea to take the kids down to a nature reserve close with ample space to get some great shots.Time
The photo was taken in late afternoon with an overcast skyLighting
Just had to make do with Natural lighting .. It was an overcast day which was a bonus.Equipment
I used a Cannon 1DX MKII with a Cannon f 2.8 70-200 lens with natural lighting.Inspiration
My Granddaughter isn't shy of the camera and likes Modeling ( When it suites her ).. Lucky for me, this was one of those days. Also curious to see how the new camera would preform set on multiple shot. This was one of the shots from a short burst.Editing
Although it looked good in color, I opted for B&W to give it more of an arty definition and applying darkness around the subject making her more of a focal point. In my camera bag
These days I make a point of packing the Cannon body 1DXMkII into the bag along with the Cannon lenses f2.8 70-200 , f2.8 24-70 .. sometimes a 8-15 fish-eye depending on what type of shoot I'm doing. I find the 8-15 is good for abstract, but one of those lenses not often used.Feedback
Experiment with your camera and your subject. Make it fun for the both of you.. Relaxed atmosphere is more fun. I was very nervous when I first started out, so a few errors came along with the shoot, like forgetting to reset the ISO and shutter speed when using the Studio lights resulting in partial images .. Make a point of doing a pre-flight check with your camera before each take-off .. will save a lot of heartache :)
