Location
This photo wasn't staged at all. It was just a bunch of cookies I baked in the oven. They came out looking so good that I decided to grab my camera and snap a few shots.Time
This was taken at Midday.Lighting
The natural lighting was amazing that day. It was a bright but slightly overcast day, so the light coming in was as if I had large softboxes all around the cookies. One window light was position nearly behind the cookies and was bouncing light off a white wall across, while the other window was side-lighting the cookies.Equipment
The equipment was nothing fancy. I think I just used a Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens. But I got pretty up close to the subject and shot this nearly wide open, I don't recall the exact aperture but it was at least f/2.8 although it might have been f/2. I got as close to the subject as I possibly could then started shooting and looking for the right compostion. This wasn't pre-planned so I didn't have a clear idea. It was all shot on the fly.Inspiration
The way the cookies looked out of the oven.Editing
I believe I added a tad of contrast and then messed around a bit with the white balance. That's it. Literally a 30 second edit.In my camera bag
It varies on what I need to shoot.Feedback
Shoot, shoot and shoot some more. Always experiment. Shoot on a slightly overcast day, that way the light is soft but still bright compared to a very sunny day or very cloudy day.
