This picture was taken at Cala Benirrás which is a very popular beach on the Island of Ibiza in the Mediterranean Sea. The whole island has such a fantastic vibe but especially at sunset when everyone gathers to see the sun go down, it's such a magical momentTime
This is probably one of my favourite photos of Ibiza because it shows off the vibe you feel at sunset. Everyone gathered together to celebrate the sun going down which then takes you to the party nightlife of Ibiza. It is hard to explain in words the feeling you get with so many people enjoying it. I had to climb up a steep slope behind the beach to get enough elevation for this shot. The image was taken on 2nd September 2016 at 19:12Lighting
I wanted to get the beautiful sunset but also the silhouettes of the people, boats and landscape so had to wait until the sun was in the right placeEquipment
This was shot with a Canon 600D, the standard 18-55mm lens at 50mm, 1/160 sec @ f13 and on a Manfrotto tripodInspiration
I wanted to get a picture that showed the feel and vibe you get from the sunsets on Ibiza. It is a real part island so it was important to get that aspect into the picture as well as the gorgeous sunset and landscape of the island. I chose this beach because not only is it a popular beach but it also has a lovey sandy beach and great features around the landscape, with not too many boats in the waterEditing
With landscapes you usually have to do some post processing and it was no different with this image but I didn't have to do a lot. I straitened the horizon slightly, and then just made small adjustments to the exposure and contrast as well as removing some sensor spotsIn my camera bag
I only have one body so the Canon 600D is always in my bag. I have recently photographed my best friend’s wedding and bought a Canon 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 lens for it and this lens has very quickly become my go to lens as it produces some stunning pictures, is wide enough for landscapes and has a great zoom. I also carry my Canon 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 and 75-300mm telephoto lens. My Manfrotto befree tripod is always attached the outside of my bag and inside I carry a range of different filters, cloths, spare batteries and memory cardsFeedback
The only advice I would give is to take your time getting a sunset, mother nature will not always give you exactly what you want so you mat have to go back to the same spot over and over again until you get the shot you want. Luckily in Ibiza most evenings have beautiful sunsets so plenty of time to get it right, but back in the UK it's not so easy so takes a lot longer to get shot I want.
