Behind The Lens

Location

Taken with the sunsetting behind at The View Campground, Monument Valley in the Navajo Nation

Time

Dusk, half an hour before sunset with the sun directly behind, whilst a huge thunderstorm approached from the north east

Lighting

The sunset added to the red glow of the rocks, whilst the dark sky and lightning from the thunderstorm provided a suitable dramatic backdrop

Equipment

Nikon D90 with an 18-300 mm lens on a tripod, as revealed by the shadow....

Inspiration

Inspiration was completely by Mother Nature - an incredible landscape with a thunderstorm breaking

Editing

Very little

A Nikon D90 with an 18-300 mm lens and a 50 mm f1.4, tripod, assorted filters

Feedback

A longer exposure time to try to catch the lightning strike, and a bit of guesswork to time it!!
