Location
This photo was taken in Sandy, Utah. I was looking west across the southern end of the Salt Lake Valley as a storm formed over the western part of the valley and the Oquirrh Mountains, which form the western boundary of the valley.Time
The photo was taken in the late afternoon as the sun began to set.Lighting
The lighting is all natural lighting as I was shooting the picture outside.Equipment
In addition to my camera I was using a monopod to steady the camera.Inspiration
I was looking out over the Salt Lake Valley as a storm began to roll into the valley. I thought I might be able to get a good shot of the storm clouds so I grabbed my camera bag and drove to a nearby vantage point where I could see clearly across the valley. As I watched the storm continued to develop and I was able to get this shot.Editing
I didn't do much editing to the picture, I sharpened it a little and normalized the colors. In my camera bag
I have my camera - a Canon EOS Rebel SL1 with it's standard EFS 18-55mm lens. Additionally I have a Tamron AF 70-300mm A17 lens and a Canon wide angle EFS 24mm lens. I also have a monopod, as mentioned previously.Feedback
My best advice for a picture like this is to always have your camera close by, as this is one of those 'being at the right place at the right time' shots.
