Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture in a neighbor's yard where they have several rosebushes lining a wood rail fence,

Time

The picture was taken in the early afternoon.

Lighting

The lighting was rather unique for this time of year, as the day was fairly windy and overcast which is unusual for the summer months in the Salt Lake Valley. Normally summer days are very bright and hot.

Equipment

This picture was taken with my Canon EOS Rebel SL1 camera using a Tamron 70-300mm Tele-Macro lens and a supported on a monopod.

Inspiration

I was invited to participate in the challenge, so I set out to find some roses I could take pictures of.

Editing

Yes I did do some minor post processing editing on this photo. I cropped one side of the picture and tightened the sharpness of the image.

In my camera bag

In my camera bag I have my camera and several different lenses. The previously mentioned Tamron lens, a Canon EFS 18-55 mm lens, and a Canon EFS 24mm Wide-Angle lens. Additionally I carry a lense cleaning kit and a spare battery.

Feedback

For this particular shot I didn't prepare very much. I used the invitation to participate in the challenge as my motive and set about to see what I could find to photograph that would allow me enter the challenge. Normally however, I plan by selecting a day and time of day that will provide me with the best natural light on the subject matter I've set out to take pictures of.
