This photo was taken in my studio while shooting a music video for a Swedish band called "Lizette &". I am a Youtube-tutorial junky - that is how I learned (I am still learning) to take photos and shoot videos.Time
It was in the middle of the night... I think around 2 in the morning. We had set up a window in the studio and used a spray bottle to get it wet - in a cool way. :-) The model was sitting on a blanket on the floor - and so was I. Had the camera on a tripod - and I remember we had to cover it... with a black sock that we cut a hole in, ´cause otherwise it's reflection showed up on the window RIGHT in front of Lizettes face. :-DLighting
I tried around with my expensive video light but it was a bit of a hell to get it to look right, so I ended up using a lightstrip that I taped around the window, out of sight, and then a desk lamp with one of my very expensive video light bulbs in, as a hair light. A smoke machine was used too - smoke machines are awesome!Equipment
This was lofi galore! It was shot with an iPhone 6 camera (both the entire music video and this photo), a tripod, a sock, a smokemachine, lightstrip, desk lamp, expensive light bulb, dirty old window and a whole lot of fun and creativity!Inspiration
First of all the song that gave me the "vibe" and after that I browsed around on pinterest to get ideas for the music video and I stumbled upon some really cool photos that was taken in the fog - U could only see the models face and the fog was thick as milk. I loved those so I tried using my smoke machine but I had a hard time getting the same effect, so I found an old window that had been outside leaning against a wall for ages - brought it in and kept on experimenting and playing around with my window and smoke machine... sock and desk lamp... :-)Editing
I did a bit of color processing - I put on a blue photo filter - played around with the contrast. It was very simple and I didn't do very much at all to it. I tried to get it right while filming it - cause I'm lazy that way. ;-)In my camera bag
I always have my Canon EOS 1100D (I didn't have that camera when this photo was taken) and I have 4 lenses that I always bring, the kit lens EFS 18-55mm, Tamron 28-80mm, Tamron 55-200mm and my "magic wonder lens" (it has no AF and is probably a bit broken - but in a wonderful way) Chinon 1:38 f=75 75-205mm - lovely lens but completely unpredictable and gives the most unexpected colors. A small foldable reflector, a speedlight called KF-570 II and another speedlight called Godox TT520 - just in case.Feedback
Have fun, use what U have, be creative and don't let all that fancy gear be something U have to have to get great photos! Now - great gear is amazing and makes everything better and bigger - but it does not make Ur ideas better or bigger.
