Picture was taken before the noon.Lighting
Unfortunately the light on this photo was from left side of the subject leaving the bird in to a shadow.Equipment
Canon 7D Mark II + TC 1.4X III + Canon 400mm f5.6Inspiration
White-tailed eagles are listed in Estonian IUCN Red List. They have been a rare sight for decades but in recent years the numbers are growing.Editing
Shadow areas were raised. Photo was cropped from landscape to portrait. In my camera bag
As I'm a nature and wildlife photographer I almost always carry a long lens - 400mm to 600mm accompanied by 1.4x and 2x teleconverters. In my bag there is also a 24-70mm lens for landscapes.Feedback
Be patient and keep your eyes open. In resent years I have spotted those eagles often sitting on rock by the sea. If you notice the eagle on a certain location on multiple days this location could be a good spot to go really early in the morning and hide and wait for the eagle to come. I have had situations where the bird has been so close that I had trouble fitting it in to the frame.
