Location
I took this photo on my last visit to Czech Republics captial Prague. I love this city and are there for holiday at least once a year since a long time.Time
When I planned this shoot, it was clear, that I have to be there during the blue hour, as the blue sky perfectly fits with the yellow and white of the bridge.Lighting
I knew in advance, that the bridge itself is englighted very nice. Unfortunately, the lights below the bridge were not working at the time, I took this photo. I will probably visit the bridge again on my next trip to Prague and hopefully, the fixed the lights until them.Equipment
As most of my cityscape photos, this one was done with my Canon EOS 6D and the EF16-35mm f/4 L lens from Canon. I do nearly every cityscape picture with this equipment. As for every long exposure, a tripod is needed and i have my carbon tripod from Sirui always with me, when I do my HDR cityscape pictures.Inspiration
I saw a photo of this bridge before my holidays and it was clear, that I will visit it in my holiday. The bridge is located a bit ouside of the city. When I traveled there with the subway, I discovered, that on every sub station, there are less people. Finally, I arrived at the final station - just near the bridge. The region was very calm, I did not saw any people around there and was a bit scary. However I was determined to make the photo and finally, I think it was worth it.Editing
Most of my cityscape pictures are HDR processed. Normaly I do 7 different exposures and decide later at home, how much to use for the final image. In this case, I used all seven exposures. The HDR is created in Photomatix. I finetune every setting there individually for every HDR i process. Normaly, I do some post-processing afterwards in Lightroom. In my camera bag
My primary camera is the EOS 6D, as backup cam, I have my older 70D in the bag. Mostly, I used the EF16-35mm f/4 L lens for my cityscape pictures. For people, architecture or party pictures, i have the EF24-105 f/4 L lens in my bag always. Also an Speedlite 600EX-RT and as backup the 430EX-II is always with me. And because I do a lot of HDR and long exposure, I have my Siuri tripod always with me.Feedback
I do many of my cityscape pictures at night. However a black sky is not so interesting on many photos. So meanwhile, I do most of my pics during the blue hour - when the sky is still blue and gives a bit more color to the night shoots. For sure, a tripod is a must - when working with HDR or doing long exposures. I try to do most of my night pictures with a low ISO (normaly 100 or max 160) do prevent to much noise.
