Location
This was taken out-of-town. Some friends went hiking and mountain climbing. I decided to stay at the foot of the mountain and took some photos. The two little girls were playing in the street in a sand bar, I mean, who never played in a sand box. They had school in the morning. The older sister had a ready smile, the younger one, a bit more cautious, was more introspective with those soul-searching eyes but would break into a smile later on.Time
This was a little after lunch which is why the kids were already playing around on the street.Lighting
The sun was out but the children were under a shade. The lighting wasn't harsh. The general environ was bright so my I had a low ISO 80 and relatively slow shutter speed at 1/100.Equipment
I used a compact Panasonic LX-5.Inspiration
I'm fond of taking street shots with people. I normally take photos on the go but when the opportunity presents itself, I approach the subject(s) and ask their permission before taking the shot.Editing
My post-work is usually black and white conversion, bring down the highlights, push the contrast, do sharpening and clarity, using Photoshop. In my camera bag
During photoshoots I have my DSLR, a Canon 60D with 50mm lens.Feedback
For portraits, you just need to shoot a lot from different angles and once you review your photos, you'll see one or two stands out because of the focus on the face, specially the eyes; and also the posing of the person(s) which has to be natural, relaxed, spontaneous.
