Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken at a picturesque location named Diankund, near Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh, India.Time
I remember, I was walking along the snow-cleared road side, awestruck, with the beauty of the snow clad mountain that dominated the entire landscape view. As I walked further, the road took a turn, just to show this wonderful drama of the Nature. The Clouds hovered over this snow covered mountain and the Sun tried to peek from behind the Clouds. I was so mesmerized with the scene, that I lost track of time. But roughly, it was a late noon in December 2014.Lighting
Often, pictures taken at late noon turn out to be bright due to the harsh Sunlight. When I took this picture, the Clouds played an important role in softening the bright Sunlight. I waited till the Clouds completely covered the Sun, to take this picture. The snow on the mountain glittered because of the softened Sun rays, making it a perfect scene for a shot.Equipment
This picture was shot on Canon 1200D, with a 18-270mm Tamron lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
Apart from the beautiful drama of the Clouds, the Sun and the glittering snow on the Mountain, one thing that highly influenced me was the similarity between these diverse, unique elements of Nature. The two elements - the Clouds and the snow, were perfectly of same shade, as if painted with the same brush and color. The trees and construction on top of the mountain separated these two scenes, without disturbing the peace. And lastly, the Sun just added a final glittering touch to the Nature's painting.Editing
No, no post processing was done. I just cropped the image to a size that I thought perfect for a landscape. In my camera bag
The same equipment with which this picture was taken - Canon 1200D with 18-270mm Tamron lens.Feedback
Never get disheartened if you see clouds during outdoor nature/landscape shoots. Clouds make a great photograph and actually act as an element to soften the harsh day light. Secondly, while taking landscape photographs, wait and watch for the drama played by Nature. You never know whats in for you to take a great picture.
