This is a ‘Stump Art’ composition that I put together by stacking, leaning
and hooking stumps and interestingly shaped pieces of wood that I find
In the game reserve behind my home. I do that until the piece feels ‘done’
at which time I will photograph it from all angles and directions anytime
of the day or night. It never fails to surprise me because the pictures
never come out as I envisioned when shooting. I do not name them because I love to hear what the viewers ‘minds eye’ sees and never are two alike.
Viewers love to share what they see and they will point out out different aspects of the composition to help them show what their minds eye sees, thus, in a way, they develop a relationship with the Stump Art photograph. If nothing else they are great conversation pieces I have seen full blown discussions break out regarding the seen and the unseen. If I were to name the pictures it would take away the viewers ‘minds eye’ and I love to hear all the different ways one can view each composition photograph. So I leave the naming to the individual.
