Location
I took this photo at a near by park. It was the first time for me to visit this park and take some photos. I had asked a good friend of mine where was a park close by to take some nature photos and she suggested this park.Time
It was a glorious fall afternoon aproaching the Golden hour on the 11th of November at 4:13 PM.Lighting
The lighting was just perfect at that hour with the sun coming through the trees with it being lower in the sky and made a beautiful reflection on the little pond in the park. It was the perfect time of day with the lighting to get these colors to pop with such brilliance.Equipment
I used my Canon 5D Mark III camera with my Canon 70-300mm f/4.5 Lens on it. I did not use a tripod I handheld for this shot and my Aperture was set to f/8 with my ISO at 320. the exposure was at 1/60 and the lens distance was set at150mm.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this photo when I saw the colors of bright light coming through the trees intensifying the beautiful fall colors and the reflection was just perfect with still water. I could not have gotten a better reflection radiating back to me.Editing
Yes, I usually do shoot raw and I first take all of my photos into Lightroom and do global adjustments to make an image pop. I did some custom white balance with a small increase to the exposure and contrast of the photo. I deepened the shadows and added vibrance and saturation with some added white. After Lightroom, I took the photo into Photoshop to pop the colors a little more using my NIK adjustment layer Color Efex Pro, Tonal filter. In my camera bag
I usually carry my 5D Mark III with my 24-105L f/4 lens, my Canon 70-300mm f/4.5 lens, my Canon Macro 100mm L/2.8 Lens and when I am doing bird photography, I use my Tamron 150-600mm f/6.3 lens. When I use my Tamron 150-600mm lens I always need a tripod as it is too heavy for me to carry. I also carry my Canon Speed Lights when I shooting people indoors or outdoors as needed and or doing interior photography for my husband's business.Feedback
The best thing I can say is to just get out there and shoot, especially in the later afternoon in the fall to capture the brilliance of these colors. Go to nearby parks, if you are fortunate enough to have them or to other locations that there is standing water.
