I took this at the San Diego California ZooTime
This was during the day round 11 am. I find a lot of the animals at places like the zoo are more responsive in the early hours then they are later in the day.Lighting
I find shooting the animals and people in the shadows or backlit gives a more sharper image and lighting effect. The time of day is important too when the sun is not blaring on top of the subject.Equipment
My 7D canon and my 70 -200 Lens which is my go to most of the time.Inspiration
I Love all animals and love frequenting San Diego at the Zoo and the Safari Park. I Spend a lot of time just interacting with them and standing and watching them, This Particular day this baby animal was interested in who I was and what I was doing. We started playing a game of peek a boo. It was quite entertaining and I captured this shot and a couple of others.Editing
Just converted it from RAW and then did basic levels action on the photo. In my camera bag
My Canon 7D, My 70-200 Lens, 28-70 Lens and 100 Lens, Polarizer and My flash.Feedback
Going out in the morning to early afternoon to get the best shots at a place like a zoo or safari park. Be patient and try to watch and be ready to snap a shot. It takes time with animals and persistence. I find that somedays I just don't get a shot that I am looking for and go back another day with the shot in mind hopefully to get. I plan out the animals I will photograph each time I go so I can spend time with a small segment of animals. You have to have patience and time.
