Great shot. The re-enactor nearest the window is dressed as an 82nd Airborne 'All American' paratrooper. Congrats on award.

I came here hoping to find an A1 camera with a pro lens, but seeing the specs gives me hope.
I love it, keep up with the good work ?

Location
This was taken at East Lancashire Railway - my local steam railway. Each year they hold a World War II weekend and invite members of societies and the general public to dress up and roll back time to the 1940's.Time
Taken at the end of my day, maybe about 3pm and was one of the last photos I took from the day.Lighting
It was a slightly overcast day and shooting into the carriage was quite dark!Equipment
I own very basic kit (need to win a new camera on Viewbug!) - I used a Canon 550D with a 18-55mm standard lens.Inspiration
It was a spur of the moment shot - good photos can be taken without endless preparation - so this was 'shot from the hip' so to say! There was no real inspiration to take it but the guys on the train just looked so real - it looked like they were going on a mission!Editing
Post processing is such a sensitive subject amongst amateur photographers like myself, but I'm a big fan of post processing - I'm lucky that being a graphic designer I have all the tools i need at my disposal! First off this image went into photoshop - with the glass there were a lot of reflections - the worse was a red car and a picket fence that had to be removed. Once they had gone it then had two Alien Skin filters applied - one to age and colour the photo and then a second to give it a feel of being shot in film. After all this It went into Lightroom and a final sharpen and slight colour tweak were made.In my camera bag
Basic kit. Canon 550d. 18-55mm, 50mm and 75-300mm lens. Oh and occasionally I'll have my tripod with me!Feedback
The best advice I can give to others wanting to take the same is firstly don't worry about your kit - I have really basic equipment and my image has been up there with professionally shot images. Secondly the best tip is to shoot and shoot. Take lots of photos - you will always find a diamond in the rough. For example on the day this was shot (I had only owned my camera a month) it was set to shoot black and white jpg with a Raw back up. Getting home and looking at the b/w jpgs nothing really stood out from the images - not until I went through the colour raw files and there was my diamond in the rough!
