Location
This photo was taken in Queensland Australia off a walking track near the beach. There is some bush along the path and it seemed to be his territory.Time
It was taken around 4pm. I was just so lucky as he sat on the stump in this beautiful light for around half an hour and occasionally glanced over at me, he wasn't afraid. I sat pretty close to him, around 3 metres.Lighting
It was all natural light. He was just in the right spot at the right time.Equipment
I use a Canon 6d and a 70-200mm L lens.Inspiration
I Love nature and was looking for some bugs or spiders when he popped up along the path I was walking on. He was so beautiful and big! A couple of his females were scurrying around nearby, but they were not as brave as him. He sat on this stump for ages, like he was surveying his domain.Editing
I processed this in lightroom. I pulled up some shadows and enhance the brightness and colours slightly and a bit of vignette to make him pop.In my camera bag
I have my Canon 6d. Canon 70-200mm L 2.8 lens. Canon macro 100mm 2.8 lens, a spare battery and a few sd cards.Feedback
Go out and shoot in the golden hour. That is when the most beautiful light is around. The soft golden tones. I am self taught and still learning along the way, you got to keep practicing and shooting what you Love. Sometimes you get lucky and find some amazing subjects. A good lens is a great investment too.
