This is beautiful as a composition, and as a demonstration of your gentleness in approaching the fox. Did you notice the image of a fox repeated in the grain of the wood above the right ear?

Always go early in the morning or late afternoon as most animals rest for the better part of the day and there is not a lot of actions. Also use the fastest shutter speed you can so you get good sharpness. Sun angle in this portrait was not important as it was in the woods
