Location
This picture was taken in my bedroom while I was doing a baby shoot for my daughter. This picture wasn't part of the original "plan" and there was no posing involved. After the shoot my wife was holding daughter by the black backdrop and I had my camera in my hands so I took the shot.Time
That's must have been in the late morning indoor.Lighting
There was a window behind me providing natural light and when shooting newborn I often set my flash to manual at the lower power (1/64) and bounce it on the ceiling a bit behind me.Equipment
I shot this with a Canon 6D with my a Sigma 50mm 1.4 EX DG lens and a Canon 430 EX II flash.Inspiration
I like to take pictures "in the moment" instead of posing, I found that I get much better expression and natural feel. Although I was doing baby poses that day this one was a real moment between a mother and a daughter.Editing
My post processing technique(s) are very basic. For this I use adjust the color with a black and white Lightroom preset and I use Photoshop to fill/expand the black backdrop. That is it.In my camera bag
I use a LowerPro Sling bag and I mainly carry my Canon 6D, Sigma 50mm 1.4 EX DG lens and a Canon 430 EX II flash. This my main equipment. Also carry a small diffuser, spare batteries and a Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote Controller. This is not in my bag but I almost always carry my Induro AKB2 tripod.Feedback
Always be ready because some of the best capture are right in front of you, it might just be a case of shooting from different angles/perspectives.
