Thank you for the award on my pic of a deer in Orange County, NY. I have been looking at your pics...so wonderful. That is great that you can get outdoors and take these great pics of creatures and nature.

Beautiful shot! I am guessing by your other photos you live near the grand tetons? Love the area wish I could live there.

I see the beauty of nature at night. A fine capture of silhouettes under the moon.

Behind The Lens
Location
The picture was taken in the CJ Strike Reservoir area in Idaho. I was on my way back from my favorite fishing and wildlife area.Time
It was in the early evening, when I saw them so I waited till they all got on top of the ridge before I took the picture,Lighting
It was in the twilight so I could see them and was using a stabilized lens so it was hand held.Equipment
No flash. D90 Nikon camera, Sigma 150-500 mm f5.6 lensInspiration
I take a lot of pictures and always look for what would be the best way and time for taking different types of pictures. That time of the day I like to get the animal above the horizon or they are pretty well camouflaged and blend in too well.Editing
I darkened the exposure using curves and then photoshopped the moon in. It was in the area but some what overexposed in the shot.In my camera bag
I always carry two cameras (Now Nikon D7000) and a wide angle to telephoto zoom and the long telephoto, a flash and whenever possible a heavy tripod. I like having the two cameras with a lens each so I don't get dirt or dust in the cameras or on the lens while trying to change in the field. I am always in harsh environments for the equipment.Feedback
I encourage all to get the best equipment they can afford and shoot shoot shoot. Practice till the camera is a part of you so you can see the picture before you take it. Experiment with different exposures and depth of fields. Most of all get out and see what God created and enjoy it. Most awarded wildlife pictures are not planned as much as being in the right place at the right time and ready to capture it. Don't push or disturb the animals.
