The photo was a spur of the moment shot that caught my eye when I was walking down to the beach. It was a cloudy day and the flower was a lone piece of color in a barren landscape.Time
Late afternoon on a grey spring day. The weather was warm and calm and was hinting at the summer to come that we all enjoy on the east coast of New Zealand.Lighting
The lighting was great for this shot. No worries about over exposure and late enough in the day to make any shot look good.Equipment
It was shot on a compact Panasonic Lumix. A hand held shot, probably on auto as it was before I upgraded to a DSLR and could see a shot but wasn't knowledgeable enough to take it in manual mode.Inspiration
It's pretty much all in the title. It was out there all alone among the grasses of the beach and was a yellow bright spot on a pretty Matt landscape. It was screaming to have it's photo taken.Editing
No post processing. You see it in all it's untouched glory. In my camera bag
Being an amateur that has only recently upgraded to DSLR I don't have a lot. It consists of a Canon 60D with an 18-135mm lens and a 40mm lens. I also carry a cable remote switch.Feedback
To be honest just enjoy your surroundings and take it all in. I can't help but look around and constantly see shots that I think would be perfect. Go off the beaten track and look past what you would normally see.
