Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was made in the Dolomites, Italy. The mountains there are amazing and so are the roads.

Time

I made this photo on our way from Cortina d'Ampezzo to Merano. It was made in the morning, just before the sun came from behind the mountains.

Lighting

I wanted to take the shot before the sun came from behind the mountains, as I didn't want bright areas in the photo due to the sun.

Equipment

This photo was made with a drone (DJI Mini 2).

Inspiration

The roads in the Dolomites are great to drive and they look great from above. The single car in the photo helps to show the scale of the scene.

Editing

Yes I did. The RAW photos from the DJI Mini 2 are pretty flat. For this photo, post-processing was done in Adobe Camera Raw and some minor corrections in Photoshop. Topaz Gigapixel AI was used for recovering the details in the photo.

In my camera bag

I mostly shoot trees and photos. Normally I have a Sony a7c, with three lenses with me: the Tamron 17-28, Tamron 28-200 and the Tamron 50-400. This a great set for shooting trees and forests. The tripod I use is a Sirui ST-125, which is very sturdy, but also small and light. Occasionally I bring my drone. Currently I use a DJI Mini 3.

Feedback

Winding roads are nice subject for aerial shots. In the Alps, for example, you can find many nice roads.
