This photo was taken on a American River Bike Trail near Folsom, CA.Time
It was pretty hot....mid day, probably around 1 PM. My brother and I were riding together and I had my trusty Canon XSI around my neck. I have to say it was kind of tough riding a fixed gear bike and attempting to take a picture but it paid off.Lighting
I just wanted to capture the feeling of speed. Not the best lighting conditions since it was mid day and the light was strong but it turned out pretty good.Equipment
Canon XSI with the kit lens.18-55 mm F3.5-5.6.Inspiration
I love moving fast, weather its on the bike or in a car and I always try to capture that feeling of speed. I thought a shot like this wouldn't be too hard to compose and if I had the settings right on the camera I could really capture that motion as well. When I shoot I try to imaging a picture on a wall. Not just in my house but maybe at a bike store, a restaurant, a gallery....anywhere where there is art hanging.Editing
I shot this a while ago. I believe I only bumped up the contrast a tiny bit. The conditions I took the picture in didn't allow for the colors to really pop so I had to touch it up slightly. In my camera bag
At that time it was just a Canon XSI with a kit lens. I used that camera for a while and I captured some of my favorite pictures with it. Most of them I have here on my profile. I upgraded to a canon 60D maybe less than two years ago but I just recently sold it and I want to upgrade. I would love to own a Canon 5d Mark 3 with 18-55 f2.8 and a 70-200 F2.8. I honestly believe that is all I would want for my photography needs.Feedback
First of all play it safe because this kind of shot can be dangerous. Definitely use a camera strap and have your camera around your neck that way you can use both of your hands in case of a fall or an incident. Pick the camera gear that works for you, spend more time on creativity and try to be different.
