Location
I took this photo in Gunther Frans’ studio in Langdorp, Belgium. Gunther Frans is a professional photographer in Belgium and now and then I rent his studio, which is very well furnished, comfortable to reach, and located in a calm area.Time
I organized this shooting in the late afternoon. Actually not a choice, it’s after my working time, as I am an amateur photographer.Lighting
In the studio there is a big soft box, positioned aside here. In such a configuration I have the model moving in the two surface coordinates, looking for different lighting.Equipment
Nikon D750, with a Sigma 24-105 f4 at 24mm.Inspiration
The photo was just one of the results of the session with Aurora. I had tried to organize a session with her earlier this year, but we had to postpone due to pandemy. The styling was mine, and looking at Aurora’s body type, I thought that some light fetish clothing item would have nicely suited her body type. The expression and posture came naturally during the session, she just let herself go and nicely interpreted on her side a bit of dramatic atmosphere.Editing
Quite light, on On1, with very limited fine tuning, and some filtering. The quality of the shooting, but especially the nice skin of Aurora, did not need more.In my camera bag
Generally a couple of cameras when it is for portrait session. I mostly rely on my Nikon D750, which I use with 35-50-85 mm fixed lenses or a 24-105mm zoom. Then in a studio I add my old Nikon D3300 with a 35-50mm, if there is natural light, my Leica Q.Feedback
A bit of planning, in terms of studio and styling. The possibility to team well with the model is also paramount, but not always happens and this must be accepted. Other than that, it is important to be disciplined technically, but let it go the situation and the atmosphere. Never forget you are in a team (photographer and model, maybe someone else) and the team has to give its best.
