Behind The Lens

Location

In Studio 42, Brussels.

Time

In the afternoon. I am an amateur and can only shoot after work. Luckily enough Lauris was available.

Lighting

In Studio 42 I preferred a white background, which is rond. Light was a soft box. The studio is wide enough to place light in one position and move the model and myself looking for different lighting.

Equipment

I normally bring with me for studio two Nikon cameras (D750 and Z50), with a 50mm, 85mm lenses (35mm on Z50) and a Sigma 24-105mm zoom. This time I was relying on the lights and equipment provided by the studio.

Inspiration

The search for some contrast between the natural beauty of the model and the metallic sharp detail of glasses.

Editing

I converted from raw and to b/w in Lightroom and finished with Photoshop. The main effort was to use frequency separation in an experimental way, with almost no touch in high frequencies and extensive processing in low frequencies to compensate the effect of some red areas of the skin. I also enhanced whites.

In my camera bag

In addition to a couple of Cameras, with 35, 50, 85mm lenses, a 24-105mm zoom. Important also a color checker, some items for cleaning of lenses, spare batteries and memories, a flash with spare batteries, a flash radio trigger.

Feedback

Nothing special in case one is familiar with shooting in a studio. The reflex of the softbox in the glasses came from the real situation. However, in post production processing it could be interesting to be creative and add some lights at choice appearing as reflected.
