The snake raided the nest just as the older chicks began to fly, unfortunately everyone didn't make it out in time. The bluebirds did all they cold to lure him out. Surprisingly Yellow Throated Warblers, Redheaded Woodpeckers, a prothonotary warbler, Red Winged Blackbirds and even a Green Heron showed up to try to help, but unfortunately the snake did not emerge until after a heavy thunderstorm passed and caused the crowd to disperse to seek shelter. Needless to say, I was dripping wet waiting to get this shot.
