Behind The Lens

Location

This image was actually taken in my home by the back patio door.

Time

I believe the original image was taken mid-day.

Lighting

The light and shadows were lovely right out of camera and I was excited to play around with it more in post-processing.

Equipment

This was shot with my Nikon D750, no flash, lens...probably my nifty-fifty.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the shadow that was cast on my sweet dogs face as he was excited to go outside. You can also see the excited expression on his face. All I do is say, "outside??" and he lights up with excitement.

Editing

I had never done a "painterly" image before and this was my attempt. I am not quite sure I nailed the painterly look but I can say I was successful in turning it into a work of art. I added a watercolor texture to it to give it the look of a painting.

In my camera bag

What do I not carry in my camera bag is the question. I don't specialize in natural or indoor photography so my bag contains a hodgepodge of stuff. My go to lens now a days is my Tamron 24-70 2.8 and paired with my Nikon D750 it makes a great combo. I also love, love, love my Nikon 85mm 1.8. You can also find a 50mm in my bag along with macro extension tubes, a flash, and a variety of filters.

Feedback

Try to photograph different subjects in different parts of your house. Find where the light comes from and just play around with it. Also don't be afraid to go outside the box in post-processing and try something you haven't tried before. You might be surprised at what you create!!
