Behind The Lens

Location

This portrait was made during a traditional wedding ceremony, in a rural town in Cambodia. Thy.is is a portrait of the bride during the ceremony.

Time

The shot was taken in the mid of the morning.

Lighting

Natural light only for this shot. The ceremony was taking place outdoor. A ceiling was made of taut fabrics to provide shade.

Equipment

This shot was taken more than fifteen years ago with an argentic camera (film). I'm not even sure with which camera (a Canon EOS I believe)... I have lost the film and the picture posted here is a scan of a printed copy (which explain the quite poor resolution of the image!).

Inspiration

The beauty and softness of the bride face, the shade of lights, and the concentration, devotion and respect shown in the attitude during the buddhist wedding ceremony.

Editing

As said above, this is a scan of a printed copy from an argentic shot. It was just converted to monchrome as the shot is already color.

In my camera bag

FujiFilm XT-20 is my camera at the moment. The choice of lenses to carry in my bag will depend on the pictures I think I may take. I have two prime lenses I really love which are the the XF-16mm-F1.4-R-WR for landscape and the XF-56mm F1.2 that I reallly love, for portraiture in particular. Zoom lens are not far, for more versatility: XC-16-50mm and a XF55-200mm... A tripod and ND filter if I plan some long exposure landscape...

Feedback

Well, as an humble amateur and mainly self-taught photographer, I am not qualified to give any lessons, even less to get into technical recommendations. The only encouragements I can give to my peers amateur photographers is to practice, try new things in shooting and post processing, and try again, and improve progressively... and most of all, take pleasure to see the beauty around us and hopefully to capture it in your pictures!
