This was taken in my home - in fact in a spare bedroom by a window to create some natural light.Time
Late afternoon - still good light here in an Andalucian winter.Lighting
In order to get the amount of light, the subject was placed on a chair which, in turn, was placed on a bed by the north facing window!Equipment
Canon 80D with a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro Lens. No flash. Hand held.Inspiration
I was peeling garlic cloves and was left with the outer husk of the bulb. It’s form and transparent nature intrigued me and I just had to attempt to capture it with my camera.Editing
I use Affinity for iPad - basic RAW processing with some additional tonal adjustments to achieve the slightly HDR effect. I am a real novice at post processing on a rather steep learning curve! In my camera bag
Canon 80D - canon 50 mm f/1,8 STM, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro Lens, canon EFS 10-18 mm, Tamron 18-270 mm. Nd filter. Polarising filter. Remote. Flash & remote triggers.Feedback
Look at everything around you for inspiration and, in particular, natural textures and colour within objects you may never have closely looked at before. Use blutac to hold things steady and look for good sources of natural light.
