I took this photo while in shooting a surfing session in the maldives. I got really lucky that this turtle turned out to be friendly and not disturbed by my presence. I had the time to wait for a surfer to catch a wave and photograph it right when it passed over the turtle( watch on the bottom right side the fins of the surfboard cutting the water.Time
It was a sunny and bright morning with very good waves , no wind and very clear water. A gift that the maldives often has to offerLighting
The light actually was perfect that day! It gave me the opportunity to decide when and where to place myself to have the right angle and light to give depth to this shot!Equipment
My camera was a Canon 7D Mark II. Lens , a Canon 10-22mm, and the housing to shoot from water was an ikeliteInspiration
The friendly turtle stayed in my area without feeling bothered for at least half and hour. Couldn't resist the temptation to try my luck to capture it with a surfer passing by on a wave! And nailed it!!Editing

When you find a crystal clear water like the one maldives has to offer...than it makes no difference, to shoot outside the water or submerged in it. The clarity and transparency is unique! Just get into it and let yourself go with the flow.. there will always be something interesting showing up!
