Location
Wedding in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.Time
Around 3-4pm on an nice overcast spring day.Lighting
Lighting was great. We had clouds in the sky and got beautiful even light around the faces.Equipment
Canon 5Dmk3. I believe it was taken with a 100-400mm Canon lens. I use it a lot on nicer days, get a lot of fantastic candids from a good distance.Inspiration
Weddings are all about candid shots. You just have to pay attention to the energy around you and how people spend it.Editing
Just made it monochrome. Sharpened a bit around the hair and eyes, as well as dialing up the contrast for a more dramatic feel.In my camera bag
My go to camera has been my Canon 5Dmk3m, until I can afford an upgrade. 16-35mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4, 100mm f2.8 are always around. I try to bring 100-400mm whenever I can, just depends on light and space.Feedback
Hard to say. I hear some photographers say "You gotta be in the right place, in the right time" and that it's just random to get candids and stuff. But for me it's all about the experience and feel. You gotta have an eye and awareness at all times when you're around lots of action. Experience helps you know where to look. But it's also about the feel. You have to be part of every moment.
