Location
This was a Heineken Cup rugby match between Biarritz (France) and Harlequins (England) in January 2013. I was living in Pamplona (Spain) at the time and the opportunity to hop over the border to see the game was too good to miss. Harlequins won the game 16-9 but I don't recall any quality rugby being played!Time
It was a horrible, wet, wild, windy night under the floodlights.Lighting
Floodlights generally provide enough lighting for sports photography.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon Kiss x5 with a Tamron 16-300 zoom.Inspiration
I love sports photography. Footballers take note - the weather doesn't have to stop you playing! It was a filthy night though, hence my title of Mudby rather than rugby!Editing
Just a little bit of bringing out the shadows on Photoshop. In my camera bag
I carry a 50mm prime and some ND filters but I'm usually too lazy to get them out of the bag! The versatility of the Tamron 16-300 is usually all I need. I do have a 400mm prime but the action gets too close to use it!Feedback
Just enjoy the game and don't try to photograph everything unless you are being paid to do so!
