Location
This photo was taken at the Denver Botanic Gardens. It’s one of my most favorite places to photograph. Each garden has endless possibilities so I’m always learning something new and finding all sorts of hidden treasures.Time
The morning Golden hour is always my favorite time of day the light is clean and even. Making it perfect for handheld macro shots like this one.Lighting
With the perfect rotational pattern of the petals I was going for a light to darkness vibe. We all are eternally bound to an endless cycle of light and dark.Equipment
This lens was shot handheld in natural light on a Nikon D750 with a Tamron 90mm Lens. I participated in a Demo day for a local camera store and this was the first Photograph I created using this combination.Inspiration
The beautiful summer day in a beautiful garden always inspires me with endless possibilities.Editing
I really wanted to emphasize on the contrast between light and darkness so in post I boosted up the contrast and enhanced the green tones to give it a more fantasy vibe.In my camera bag
I always pack my favorite camera at the time was the D750 but now I have moved up to D850. I never leave home without my macro lens (nikkor 105mm) and my very dependable Sigma 35mm. I rely mainly on natural light so I always carry a 5 in 1 reflector in case I need to bounce or diffuse light.Feedback
Done be afraid to shoot! Even if the flower or the lighting isn’t perfect it will give depth to your capture. I believe nature is a direct representation of ourselves so to expect perfection can cause you to miss something truly breathtaking.
