Location
This photo was taken in Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India.Time
I clicked this photo during the morning hours when it was foggy and misty in January.Lighting
We usually get golden light during the winters and it was the month of January. Still, one has to wait to take a good image and have to take care of everything like when the light is falling perfectly on the subject, the distance with the background, anything distracting or making the composition, etc. Here, lighting played a key role in adding drama to the image.Equipment
I used Canon 6D with 100-400mm IS1.Inspiration
I wanted this image to look creative and not just another portrait image. I imagined the frame before capturing it. I was just waiting for the right moment as I wanted to see the face of both, mother and fawn spotted deers.Editing
Very minimal to adjust shadow and contrast. In my camera bag
I am using only Canon's equipment and it's been more than 9 years now. When I took this image, I had Canon 6D but now I use Canon M50 with the same, 100-400mm IS. After putting this in the bag, I carry 2 memory cards and a tripod.Feedback
Wildlife photography is vast. Nowadays many new photographers run behind portrait images. They believe that big lenses and close-up images are the only things in wildlife. However, I never had a heavy prime lens or a very costly camera. I always prefer taking habitat images. If you too try to capture something similar, please understand an animal's behaviour, about the movement, moment, and lighting conditions. Don't keep your camera at full zoom. Give your subject some space and spend time with them.
