Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Seaport Village, San Diego, CA.

Time

It was just past 9 PM on 1/10/2018.

Lighting

This photo was taken using a 25 second long exposure, using no additional lights, or lighting effects.

Equipment

This photo was shot using a Canon 6D, with a Canon 24-105 F/4L IS USM. The camera was stabilized using a MeFOTO backpacker.

Inspiration

I went to San Diego for a wedding. After the wedding, I asked some friends in the area that I knew if they wanted to go out at night and shoot some long exposures. Thankfully they agreed to go because I, otherwise, would not have gone to this area and taken this photo.

Editing

Yes. I did some light touch ups in Adobe Lightroom.

In my camera bag

Depending on where I go, I bring different cameras and lenses. Typically I would shoot with either my Canon 6D or my Sony A6300. If I were going to just bring 1 lens with me, it would either be my Sigma 35mm F/1.4 Art or my Canon 24-105mm F/4L to walk around. I will bring other lenses depending on where I'm going or how much room/weight I have and want to carry around. When I plan on shooting landscapes, I will bring my Canon 16-35mm F/4L and on certain special occasions (weddings, portraits, macro, animals), I have a Canon 70-200mm F/2.8L IS II and a Canon 100mm F/2.8 IS Macro lens.

Feedback

My advice is just to go out and try it. Some days are better in terms of lighting or atmosphere, but hey, you don't know what you will get unless you do it. It's even more fun with friends! :)
