late afternoonLighting
a difficult day for lighting as during the time here we had a down-pour of rain with very dark skies. Tried to use the radiance of the background flowers to contrast with the plumageEquipment
I was very lucky here as a previous down-pour had blown the circuits in my 500mm sigma lens! Fortunately another photographer lent me his Nikkor 500mm lens to use on my Nikon D7000 ,supported in a gimbal head. This is what is great about the photographing community. They are always willing to help each other out !!!!Inspiration
This patch at the bottom of the hillside was filled with flora and in total in the small area there was at least eleven species of hummingbird all waiting for space to feed here. I spent more than a hour trying to capture as many species as I couldEditing
Very little really just touching up the brightness and contrast and optimizing the image sizeIn my camera bag
since this experience I now always carry two Nikon D7000 cameras as well as a Coolpix P900 to cover any eventuality. coupled with this usually a 500mm zoom ,a wide angle and a macro lens to cover any situation, I always use Sigma lenses as I find them to be of equal quality to Nikkor lenses but a fraction of the costFeedback
be patient and think ahead what you are trying to capture to position yourself in the perfect place where possible. Be always ready for the unexpected encounter/
