Behind The Lens

Location

I take this amazing shot with my favorite model at my home studio. Its just a simple studio corner in my personal flat.

Time

I did this picture in the late afternoon. It was just the warmup-session for the main picture of the evening.

Lighting

The lighting is a flash situation in front of a dark grey background. I use a beauty dish with a hensel flash. I put just a little bit power on the the flash to fill up her chest and face. The beautydish is nearly 20 centimeters in front of her and 50 centimeters above.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D810 with a Sigma Art 50mm i think. A good standard mix. A BeautyDish from Hensel (white Version) was used on a Hensel 500Watt Flash. Grey Background nearly 60 cm behind her.

Inspiration

This was a warmup for a later shooting and as i see her in this perfect fitting jeans and the simple but nice bra, i adjust the light higher and ask her to pose a little bit more in a classical way. Boom, we nailed this shot in Black&White and it was pretty nice, but i decided to use the color version to show the jeans.

Editing

Just a RAW Processing in Photoshop, not much more work. I lighten the highlights a little bit and darken the shadows to get a little bit more dramatic. I don´t do much more on the face because the makeup artist has done a perferct job.

In my camera bag

In my bag i have my Nikon D810 and 3 Sigma Art lenses. 35mm 50mm 85mm but i wish me a 135mm prime lense from sigma. I also have music in my bag and sweets for the models

Feedback

This was two light setup. The main light from the beauty dish and a small light on the background with a tube. Start with the light for the model and adjust this perfect, than you can add the second light and see if this works for you. But the second light in not such important than the first. For this result you need to show skin and let the lightformer shine from above.
