It would not have been possible for me to be in the area and not stop here, to get this image.
This is the arch tunnel on the Brooklyn side of the Manhattan Bridge, which spans the East river in New York City, and the reason it was important for me to see it is that a pivotal scene in one of my very top favorite movies was filmed at this location...Sergio Leone's magnificent gangster epic, "Once Upon a Time in America", with Robert De Niro, James Woods, Elizabeth McGovern, Tuesday Weld, an 11 year old Jennifer Connelly, William Forsythe, and, literally, too many other top line talents to mention.
I'd have to label myself, I guess, as very provincial, but I'd never seen New York City before, and on my first sight of the skyline, my mouth and throat went completely dry, and once I got into the city, it was, at least to me, as if there was an electrified form of adrenaline in the air...the excitement was genuinely palpable, and to be standing where I stood to take this image...well, I haven't the words to describe excited I was.
Well, anyway, I hope you like the image.
