I love your images. They're interesting with the glitter. Your concept is awesome and your lighting is spot on.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my studio, located in São Paulo state, Brazil. This is part of a serie, called MATIZ, in portuguese (something between hue, tint, shade, tinge, cast, iris in english).

Time

The photo was taken at 5h34 PM, precisely. The great advantage of the studio is that we can control the light, any time of the day or night. My studio had a big door. And it was open. So, I had the idea of put the model near the door. So, besides the artificial lights of the softboxes, natural light was used to balance the image and get the result I wanted.

Lighting

I wanted that her face was free of any distractions, like harsh shadows. Because, well, there is a constellation covering her body. So I put two soft lights in front of her. One in the right and another in the left (the catchlight denounces the set of lights). :)

Equipment

I used a Canon 5D Mark IV and a 50mm lens. No tripod. And two beautiful softboxes (50x70cm). I love the effect of the softboxes near the model in this photo.

Inspiration

On the skin an adornment with its colors and nuances. This photographic project, MATIZ, seeks, in vibrant tones, the junction between the color and the shine of the elements and the expressions of each of the people captured. This one is a part of a set and star sequins were used.

Editing

Usually portrait images require a bit of retouch. In this case I used Adobe Lightroom to get better results in the highlights, contrast and other fine ajustments. After that, I used Adobe Photoshop to minimize some little marks in the skin, like acne. And that's all. The model is wonderful. I tried to catch a part of what she really is. So, the real job was done right in the capture of the image in the camera.

In my camera bag

I love portraits. So I usually take my Canon 5D Mark IV with me, a Canon 50mm lens and a Sigma 24-70mm lens. Sometimes I carry a Canon flash with me too, with a portable softbox. But normally I photograph in the studio with a beauty dish and some other nice equipments.

Feedback

I always photograph with feelings. I put all my heart in what I do to capture beautiful moments and expressions because I want to see a part of the soul of the person I photograph. To know the emotions in their eyes. And I wonder if people can see it too in the photos I do. I try to be near the person, create confidence. That's why I choose a prime 50mm lens in a full frame camera. It lets me get closer to the person. And yet, sometimes, get that blurry effect to select the parts of the image I want people to pay attention.
