I took this photo on a trip of a lifetime to Yellowstone National park.Time
It was taken about 11am,Lighting
It was a warm sunny day in late August. Luckily the owl was in dappled shade so the sunlight was not too strong.Equipment
I used a Canon 7d Mark ii and the canon 100-400mm USM zoom lens.Inspiration
I was walking along some wooded path and noticed him just sitting there. I fired of some shots in case he moved but he was quiet contented sitting there so I slowed down to make sure I got a nice shot.Editing
The only post-processing I did was to slightly crop it.In my camera bag
I normally have the canon 7d Mark ii. Lens I carry are 100mm macro, 100-400mm, 50mm lens. Spare batteries and Sd cards. I love macro so I carry a small fold up mat for kneeling on. If I'm being lazy I use a canon Powershot 3Gx instead .Feedback
As this was a trip of a lifetime, I recommended to take time to enjoy the area you are visiting. Keep you eyes and ears open as wildlife is very unpredictable and you don't know where they are going to show up. Be patient.
