I took this photo in my kitchen after I was finished baking.Time
It was shortly after noon.Lighting
In my kitchen there is a large window to the left which lets in a lot of natural light but no direct sunlight. To even out the light I placed a large white broad on the righthand side. I put a large frame covered in black material ( which my crafty sister made) behind the set up.Equipment
I used a Canon 600d placed on a tripod. I also used a remote control so I didn't have to touch the camera so reducing vibrations.Inspiration
My sister was working on one of her many craft creations, she was using the 'goggly eyes' at the time. When I was finished baking I was looking at the empty shells and thought the eyes peeping out would be funny. I stuck the eyes on some white paper and then stuck them to the inside of the shells. I arranged the feathers around the shells.Editing
There was no post-processing.In my camera bag
It depends on what I'm planning on photographing. I have upgraded from my canon 600d to a canon 7d Mark ii. If I'm going to our local botanical gardens I usually bring the 7d with a 100mm macro lens. I like doing close up of the flowers and insects there. If I'm planning on a nature trip I would pair the 7d up with a100-400mm ii lens. I still have my old 600d so if I can't make up my mind on what I'm photographing I'll put the macro on this and the zoom on the 7d Mark ii. I also have spare batteries, memory cards and a lens pen.Feedback
Try and look at every day objects in a different light. I would have normally throw these egg shells into the compost bin but got the idea from my sisters crafting materials. It's fun to try something different and the more fun you have the better.
