Location
This image was taken in Tolaga Bay. I was on a ten day photographic adventure, along the East Coast of the North Island, New Zealand. February 2016.Time
This was taken at 5.55 am. You have to get up early to get these shots. It is also a lovely quiet time of the day. No one was around, just me and my camera and nature revealing a moment of glory.Lighting
The morning light in Summer is amazing, and I love how the sky is reflected onto the shallow water. These are the shots that I love to capture, human kind have gazed at moments like this since the dawn of time.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 7D mark 2, with a tripod. The lens was a Canon 10-22 mm. The settings were; f20 at 0.60s at 12 mm. ISO 100.Inspiration
The wharf at Tolaga Bay is the longest in New Zealand. It is no longer used for shipping but is now a tourist attraction. I have always had this place on my bucket list to go and see, a beautiful place. I was only going to camp here for a night but stayed for 3 nights. I am longing to return and explore more of the area, and also to relax in the natural environment, and of course take too many photographs.Editing
From memory only some highlight and hue/saturation level adjustments. In my camera bag
Canon 7D mark 2 and a back up body EOS Kiss. Lens are 70-200 f2.8 is usm. Canon EF-S 10-22mm, Canon EF 50 mm f1.8. Canon EFS 15-85 mm. Cleaning cloth, duster, gaffer tape, band aids (for foot blisters). Marumi ND Vari. ND2-ND400 filter and a Zeta C-PL filter.Feedback
Shoot, shoot and shoot some more. Getting up early to capture the sunrising and to enjoy the quiet moment of the day. Enjoy everything, learn from the mistakes and celebrate the great image that you capture.
