Location
I was visiting Beijing to do the Great Wall of China Marathon. The day after we visited one of the many beautiful gardens and public spaces. This chap was very willing to smile and was clearly used to getting the attention of the many tourists..Time
This was taken late afternoon.Lighting
The sun was low in the sky so any real harshness had gone, however the subject was in partial shade anyway..Equipment
Canon 5diii with a tamron 70-200 f2.8vc lens.Inspiration
I have had the fortune to visit a few places around the world. As a photogrpaher seeing wonderful and differing faces, all of which tell a story of the lifestyles and culture from which it was born offers no end of interest to me. I was actively looking for people of who told me something in their face and or body and this wonderful man with a warm smile and gracious attitude was very happy to oblige.Editing
Yes this was cropped slightly to remove a few unwanted items in the back ground, some contrast, shadow and sharpness edits were done.In my camera bag
Canon 5diii, Tamron 70-200mm f2.8vc, Tamron 15-30mm f2.8vc, Sigma 15mm f1.4 prime, canon 50mm f1.8.Feedback
To be honest as i continue to learn myself the only advice i could possibly give is to get out there and take photos, this photo was by no means a planned shot though i was aware of my camera settings and the environmental things that affected the subject but it was one of many that i took. This was the lucky one! sometimes its getting that lucky shot every now and then that makes you carry on learning and trying and in the process we get better..
