Location
This photo was taken in Sydney at Milsons Point. It was the time of 'Vivid Sydney' where the city is illuminated with beautiful lights and artwork. On the way back to the car before heading home I actually struck upon the location by chance. What a beautiful view it was..Time
The image was taken late in the evening, perhaps about 10:30pm. I had my tripod with me so i whipped it out set it up and slowed the shutter speed right down to capture all the lights and illuminate the bridge best I could. It was also a little windy as you can see by the the flag on the bridge, so i had to wait it out been wind gusts.Lighting
There was no external lighting used, just my camera and the amazing lighting set from the the buildings a the bridge.Equipment
All i had with me at the time as it was a couple of years ago now was my camera 700D Canon and the kit lens 18-55mm along with a tripod to slow the shutter speed right down.Inspiration
The inspiration for this image definitely came from going back to Sydney for a visit as its where i grew up. I was very lucky to time it with 'Vivid Sydney' and go and explore the beautiful light show. It was towards the end of the evening and i just happened to turn around and I stood in awe before I came to my senses and started snapping away.Editing
I typically shoot in Raw format, so post processing is almost essential for every photo. I however usual only work with the information in the file, so adjusting shadows and highlights and straightening the image along with adjusting the white balance if required to do so. The image in particular was minimal adjusts in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Equipment i normally have is my canon 700d with my 24-105 L series lens attached to the body. A nifty fifty prime lens 1.8, 10-20mm sigma wide angle lens and the two kit lenses 18-55mm and 70-200mm A few ND filters and polarisers and of course the tripod for stability.Feedback
To capture something similar you have to be patience. Work with the elements and be prepared to change angle and adjust vantage points. In Sydney the weather can change drastically quickly, so put yourself out there and be ready to adapt to changing light conditions and weather conditions. Hopefully you will be in the right place and right time to capture that idea you have.
