Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a Candy Factory in Valparaiso, Chile in one of the older neighborhoods of the city.

Time

This was taken around 4pm on a Saturday after having lunch with my friends and walking through the hill looking for nice places to take photos.

Lighting

There was a lot of natural light on the store that had many windows.

Equipment

It was taken with a Nikon D3200 and a NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Lens

Inspiration

This photo was taken on my birthday after my cousin and I were walking around the hill in Valparaiso. She lives on Australia and was visiting me after more than 5 years. I took this picture as a reminder of mi birthday celebration with her.

Editing

Just a little bit of exposure correction with Lightroom as this was shot using the ambient light from the store.

In my camera bag

I normally have a Nikkor 55-300 mm attached to my Nikon D3200 because I am the kind of outdoor guy that loves to capture the moment regardless if it is close or far. On top of that I always carry a Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 so when I find a steady target I can play with the depth of field and later choose the best shot.

Feedback

Valparaiso is a magical place for me, not only because of the architecture of the city but also because of the mysterious places that are waiting to be discovered when you open a door. If you want to obtain unique shots, do not hesitate to give that additional step and go inside the places, the stores, hotels or even houses. Knock the door and ask for permission to capture a magical moment.
